Users are advised if computer is running Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8, do not update the system to version 10.5.9, as this edition has a similar restriction. Snow Leopard 10.6.1, of course, also should not be updated. It is also possible option with version 10.6.2, but with the kernel 10.0.0 or modified kernels. As the comments from Apple about the causes of dropping support for Atom not, we can only guess whether it wants the company in such a way to influence those who have opted for a Mac OS X and at the same time chose to self-identify with what the hardware should be portable PC. Apple already was tried with the company Psystar, sell computers with its OS. Now available for the purchase of software Rebel EFI, which allows to install Mac OS X on machines with Intel Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, i7 or Xeon Nehalem.

According to other reports, Apple went to a step in the optimization of the operating system code, including the instruction set SSE4, not supported by the Atom. However, the end of the “era of Mac OS X” on the netbook should not wait – the community of enthusiasts promises to cope.
